During the half-term holidays, Phil DeFreitas accompanied a group of aspiring young cricketers and their families to Lords, the home of cricket. An official Lord’s guide showed the party around the ground and into the Museum where Phil handed over some memorabilia from the 1992 World Cup tournament. The boys were shown an official score book with Phil’s epic 7-70 bowling figures for England against Sri Lanka at Lords in 1991 and stopped for the obligatory photo opportunity with the famous urn. Next, the group were shown into the Pavillion and the impressive Long Room where Phil re-counted how it felt to walk through there and out on to the field to play. In the Players Dressing rooms, the boys read the inspiring Honours boards of names (including one PAJ DeFreitas!), and experienced the view from the players balcony. A session in the MCC Academy nets with Phil followed which was throughly enjoyed by all the boys.
