En s’inspirant de leurs expériences respectives au sein d’associations de prévoyance québécoises, les fondateurs établissent une première société de secours mutuels canadienne-française à Ottawa : l’Union Saint-Joseph d’Ottawa. Malgré une naissance et des débuts modestes, cette organization connaîtra une grande histoire. Elle deviendra l’une des plus grandes sociétés fraternelles nationales, avec des ramifications dans plus de six hundred communautés canadiennes-françaises du Canada et des États-Unis.
